A lot of people have been permanently laid off from their jobs, and as a result we’ve had a lot of candidates contacting us for work as bills still need to be paid.
People have since started new jobs and have then been temporarily laid off (or furloughed) and have then been told that they can’t claim Universal Credit OR get 80% of their wages, because they started their new job after February 28th.
Things have now progressed, and Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis has just announced that it has just been confirmed by the Treasury, that if you were laid off BEFORE 28th February, you can be re-hired by your previous employer UNDER FURLOUGH and receive 80% of your wages!
Our advice…contact your previous employer ASAP to discuss this with them!
This will save you the trouble of having to wait on the phonelines for Universal Credit and will hopefully help you to be able to survive during this pandemic.
